On February 18, 2023, nine Grade 12 students from Magsaysay Memorial College of Zambales Inc. began their Grade 12 work immersion in Zambales, embarking on a hands-on journey at Lotus Dairy Farm in San Narciso. Assigned to the area of forage collection (cut and carry), the students got their first taste of real-world work and responsibility—far from the confines of the classroom.

What Students Learned During Their Work Immersion in Zambales

The work immersion began with students learning how to gather and prepare fresh forage for the dairy farm’s cattle—a critical process that supports daily farm operations. With the guidance of the Lotus Dairy Farm team, students were able to develop:

  • A deeper understanding of agriculture and sustainability
  • Skills in teamwork, discipline, and physical endurance
  • A newfound appreciation for local farming communities

Student Reactions from Their First Day

“It was tiring but fun—I’ve never done anything like this before. I feel proud that I was able to help and learn at the same time.”
“I now understand how much effort goes into even the simplest parts of farming. I respect farmers more than ever.”

These quotes reflect the value of giving students real-world exposure—lessons that can’t be found in textbooks.
