About our Chairman

Dr. Teresa Yap, MD, is a distinguished dermatologist and the Chairman of Lotus Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to community development, education, and sustainable agriculture in the Philippines. With a passion for both medical and dental missions with social impact, she has played a pivotal role in initiatives that enhance healthcare, food security, and livelihood opportunities for Filipino communities, particularly in Zambales.

As a medical professional, Dr. Yap has built a respected career in dermatology, specializing in skin health, disease prevention, and patient care. Her experience in the medical field has reinforced her advocacy for health and wellness, which is reflected in her leadership at Lotus Foundation.

Under her guidance, Lotus Foundation Inc. established Lotus Dairy Farm, an integrated livestock farm in San Marcelino, Zambales. This initiative supports local farmers, promotes sustainable dairy production, and provides training opportunities in agriculture. The farm produces fresh cow’s milk, flavored milk, yogurt, pastillas, and cottage cheese, ensuring access to nutritious dairy products while also serving as a milk depot for the region.

Beyond agriculture, Dr. Yap has led impactful health-focused outreach programs, including nutrition drives for Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and underprivileged families. In partnership with TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority), the farm also serves as a training ground for students, providing hands-on experience in advanced agricultural technologies and animal production. This initiative equips individuals with essential skills for employment in both local and international agricultural sectors, fostering economic opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.

As a medical doctor, philanthropist, and advocate for sustainable development, Dr. Yap envisions Lotus Foundation Inc. as a bridge between healthcare, education, and community empowerment. Dr. Teresa Yap’s role as chairman goes beyond administration—she is hands-on, committed, and actively shaping the future of Lotus Foundation. Under her leadership, the foundation bridges agriculture, education, and healthcare to create meaningful, lasting impact in Filipino communities, especially in Zambales.

She provides strategic direction, sets community-driven goals, and leads programs that empower farmers, students, and underprivileged families. These include sustainable farming training, nutrition support for Indigenous Peoples, and skills development for youth and aspiring agripreneurs.

Dr. Yap also spearheaded Lotus Dairy Farm, a model for sustainable dairy farming and a training hub in partnership with TESDA, offering both livelihood and education opportunities.

As a doctor and dermatologist, she integrates healthcare into the foundation’s work—ensuring communities have access to nutrition, hygiene, and preventive care.

She actively promotes the “Become a Partner” initiative, building partnerships with government, private sector, and donors to expand the foundation’s reach. Through her vision and compassion, Dr. Yap continues to uplift lives and inspire change across all her initiatives.
