Mr. Alexis N. Virrey, representative of ATI Central Luzon, has officially begun his journey with the Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan (YFFLTPJ). His Pre-Departure Orientation Course (PDOC) on Dairy Production and Processing is now underway at Lotus Dairy Farm in Sitio Mambog, Barangay Linasin, San Marcelino, Zambales.
This marks the first phase of a transformative training that aims to equip young farmers with the tools and mindset needed to succeed as future leaders in Philippine agriculture.

Building the Next Generation of Young Filipino Farm Leaders
The Young Filipino Farm Leaders Training Program in Japan is a long-standing partnership between the Department of Agriculture and the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council (JAEC). Its mission is to support promising young farmers and develop them into globally aware, technically skilled, and socially responsible agricultural entrepreneurs.
Participants like Mr. Virrey are given the opportunity to train both locally and internationally, strengthening their capabilities and expanding their perspective on modern, sustainable farming.
Local Roots, Global Vision
Before heading to Japan, trainees undergo essential skills training here in the Philippines. For Mr. Virrey, that training begins at Lotus Dairy Farm, which offers hands-on exposure to dairy production, milk processing, and farm operations.
By combining local training with international immersion, the program ensures participants understand the value of both Filipino farming practices and global agricultural innovation.
Empowering Young Filipino Farm Leaders Through Opportunity
Through this initiative, ATI and JAEC are investing in the future of agriculture by empowering youth to lead. This not only benefits individual farmers, but also strengthens rural communities and supports the country’s food security goals.
As Mr. Virrey takes this step forward, he serves as an inspiration to other young Filipinos—proof that with the right support and opportunities, they can become leaders in the agricultural sector.
